Christian Health Receives Clinical Excellence Award for Haven at Ramapo Ridge From New Jersey Hospital Association

Christian Health has received the Clinical Excellence Award from the New Jersey Hospital Association (NJHA) for its innovative Haven at Ramapo Ridge program, the state’s first and only inpatient trauma-informed care space for women. The organization was recognized among industry leaders Thursday, July 11, at NJHA’s Best at the Beach event in Long Branch.

This was the first time Christian Health received this award, which recognizes caregivers who personify a top-notch commitment to care.

“It was an honor and privilege to be recognized by our peers for the innovative work we do at Christian Health,” said Douglas A. Struyk, CPA, LNHA, Christian Health CEO. “Our goal is to continually evolve and grow to ensure we offer industry-leading programs with high-quality care for our residents and patients.”

Haven at Ramapo Ridge is the state’s first and sole women-only inpatient trauma care program, designed to provide care to women who have experienced trauma in a safe and supportive environment. The program is held within Ramapo Ridge Behavioral Health hospital on Christian Health’s Wyckoff campus. Of Ramapo Ridge’s 58 beds, 12 are designated to the Haven program with plans to expand to meet an increasing need in the community.

“Our community identified a growing demand for trauma-informed services, especially for women who have experienced trauma,” said Alexis Totaro, MSN, RN, WHNP-c, CARN-AP, Vice President of Mental Health Services and Chief Nurse Executive at Christian Health. “As a faith-based organization, we knew we needed to help. With that, the Haven program was born and has been a great success since its inception earlier this year.”
