Christian Health Is Recognized by NJBIZ for Innovative Programming at Haven at Ramapo Ridge

Christian Health has been honored by NJBIZ as a 2024 Healthcare Hero for its innovative work at Haven at Ramapo Ridge, the state’s only women-only inpatient trauma care program. This is the first year Christian Health has been recognized by the state’s leading business journal in the Innovation Hero category.

The award program recognizes excellence and honors the efforts of individuals and organizations making a significant impact on the quality of health care in New Jersey.

“We are honored to be recognized as Healthcare Heroes for our commitment to expanding critical mental health services in New Jersey,” said Douglas A. Struyk, CPA, LNHA, Christian Health CEO. “Our mission is to identify the most important ways to serve our community and create programs to consistently meet those unique needs. This specialized program will help so many women who are struggling to find the right place to receive trauma care.”

Haven at Ramapo Ridge provides specialized care for women who have experienced various forms of trauma, including childhood abuse, sexual assault, domestic violence, fetal loss, postpartum depression, infertility, and substance use disorders. Patients at Haven have access to personalized care plans in a secure environment to allow stability away from triggers. Small group therapy sessions allow for the proper facilitation and processing of group content and sharing in a tranquil environment, which promotes healing and comfort. Haven’s team members, which include nurses and nursing assistants, social workers, and those providing therapeutic activities, have been thoroughly trained in women’s trauma and trauma-informed care.

Haven at Ramapo Ridge is a special program within Ramapo Ridge Behavioral Health hospital on Christian Health’s Wyckoff campus. Ramapo Ridge is licensed by the State of New Jersey and accredited by the Joint Commission. Of the hospital’s 58 beds, 12 are designated for the Haven program, and plans are to expand to meet increased demand.
