Christian Health announced today that it has welcomed faith-based organization Holland Christian Home into its senior living care continuum. Rebranded as Windmere, the newest Christian Health community for older adults bridges the gap between independent living and assisted living, offering a blend of freedom and support. The North Haledon campus offers both residential health care, and skilled nursing care through Mountain View at Windmere.
“As an established nonprofit senior living provider in northern New Jersey, we are proud to offer current and future Windmere residents the high-quality care Christian Health has provided local communities for decades,” said Douglas A. Struyk, CPA, LNHA, Chief Executive Officer at Christian Health. “We pledge to maintain the quality and faith-based heritage of Holland Christian Home while continuing to strategically plan for the future. Together, we can ensure our older adults enjoy a unique blend of freedom and support in an intimate, faith-based community.”
Some of Windmere’s distinct features include:
- Private apartments with private bathrooms for each resident.
- Twenty-four-hour staffing.
- Planned group activities, such as fitness classes, trips, events, book groups, and more.
“We are pleased to be able to leverage the strengths of two trusted, mission-driven organizations to continue a longstanding tradition of providing high-quality, compassionate care services to our community,” said Andy Van Orden, PT, DPT, MBA, LNHA, Vice President and Administrator of Windmere. “The goal is to provide each resident with a welcoming, comfortable, home-like atmosphere where they can enjoy friendships and engage in a fulfilling lifestyle,” Van Orden added. “It’s the perfect blend of comfort and care.”
The Holland Christian Home Board of Trustees entered into a management agreement with Christian Health on October 3, 2022, to oversee its day-to-day operations. Since then, the two organizations have worked in close collaboration to strategically plan for the senior living home's future growth and success. In late 2023, a formal alliance with Christian Health was unanimously approved by Holland Christian Home’s Board of Trustees and membership. After receiving final approval for the change in ownership from the New Jersey Department of Health, Holland Christian Home formally became a part of Christian Health effective August 1, 2024.
