Christian Health Adds Seasoned Attorney to its Leadership Team

Christian Health CEO Douglas A. Struyk announced the appointment of Amy Shotmeyer Porter, a seasoned attorney and legal advisor, as the nonprofit healthcare organization’s in-house legal counsel. Shotmeyer brings 15-plus years of experience in affordable housing, risk management, employment law, and contract review to the newly created role.

Struyk, CPA, LNHA. “As our organization continues to grow and expand to meet the needs of our community, Amy’s background and expertise will be invaluable. We are confident that the knowledge and respect that she gained from her years of leadership and advocacy on behalf of Christian Health will enable her to hit the ground running.”
In her new role, Shotmeyer Porter will lead Christian Health’s legal services, serve as Risk Manager, and collaborate with various department heads to oversee regulatory and contractual compliance, resident and patient safety, emergency management, and quality assurance.

Shotmeyer Porter comes to Christian Health from Paramus-based law firm DeCotiis, FitzPatrick, Cole & Giblin, LLP, where she rose from law clerk to equity partner. She has extensive experience as a litigator with expertise in risk management, insurance coverage, and patient safety. Shotmeyer Porter has been annually honored as a “Rising Star“ by Super Lawyers, since 2019, and she has also been consistently recognized by her peers as one of Bergen County‘s and (201) Magazine’s “Top Lawyers“.
Shotmeyer Porter has been involved with Christian Health since 2016 and served as Vice Chair on the Christian Health Foundation Board of Trustees, and Executive Committee Member and Assistant Secretary on the Christian Health Board of Trustees. She has resigned from those roles to accept the position of in-house legal counsel.
The Franklin Lakes resident received a Bachelor of Arts and Environmental Sciences from Lehigh University and a Juris Doctorate from Seton Hall University School of Law.
