Residents Love Longview: Meet Bill and Viola Stanley

Bill and Viola Stanley moved to the Ridgewood area in 1982. When Viola began to exhibit signs of early onset Alzheimer’s, he decided it was time to get her the care she needed.

“This place got my vote,” he said of Christian Health. “It’s in my hometown environment – I love the woods and big windows. It’s perfect.”

Viola first moved into Courtyard, our memory care community, then transferred to Heritage Manor when she needed further care. Bill moved into Longview several months later to enjoy the comforts of assisted living while being close to his wife – and being able to get further care as well if he should ever need it.

“I wanted a continuing care community because what happened to Viola could also happen to me,” he said. “But she’s well-taken care of and happy as a lark.”

Aside from having the comfort of access to a continuum of compassionate care services, Bill enjoys Longview for the beautiful setting, friendly team members, and delicious food (especially the fresh fish from Peter’s Fish Market).

“We love fish,” he said. “While we lived in Ridgewood, we always bought our fish at Peter’s! The first or second time I came here for a tour, I saw a Peter’s truck. I said, ‘That settles it!”

Bill is certainly content with his decision to move to Longview. “I have everything I need,” he said. “I do exercise every morning; I have lots of friends. One of the things I wanted was to be around people after Viola came up here.”

Bill visits Viola in Heritage Manor twice a week via a Christian Health van that picks him up at Longview. “They love her up there,” he said. “She’s vivacious, and she’s pretty – one of the most beautiful 75-year-olds there is.”

“When I come in, I get a big smile, kiss, and a hug,” he said. “She’s always talking and very animated. We have a grand time.”
