Christian Health Community Director Honored with Leadership Award

Mary Mariconda, Director of Hillcrest and Evergreen Court, two of Christian Health’s independent senior living communities in Wyckoff, recently received the Excellence in Leadership award by LeadingAge New Jersey and Delaware, a community of nonprofit providers of aging services. This award celebrates individuals with progressive leadership responsibilities within a LANJDE member organization who have worked to build a shared vision, develop robust relationships, and enhance organizational capacity.

Through her leadership, Ms. Mariconda has increased occupancy rates in both communities, achieved high patient-satisfaction survey results, and effortlessly navigated the continued changes and challenges caused by the pandemic. Residents of both communities describe her as a blessing.

“Mary embodies and models what it means to be committed to person- and family-centered care: she knows every resident by name, understands their specific needs, and is willing to do whatever she can to provide excellent service,” said Stephen Dumke, Executive Vice President and COO of Christian Health and Chair of the Board for LANJDE.

Ms. Mariconda started her career at Christian Health in 1989 as assistant director of the adult day-services program. After several promotions, Ms. Mariconda became director of both the Hillcrest and Evergreen Court independent-plus-living communities. Immediately after taking on the job of running two complex communities, she implemented a new, more-stringent waiting list process and seamlessly oversees the process. Her commitment to the residents and the improvement of all associated processes and services has been vital to the continued success at Hillcrest and Evergreen.

Ms. Mariconda has also developed excellent relationships with her colleagues and consistently provides encouragement, support, and helpful feedback. Her longevity, hard work, and leadership make her an undeniable asset to Christian Health’s mission to provide compassionate aging services to the community.
