Compassion, Expertise, and Trust
A more fitting and appropriate theme could not have been selected for National Nurses Week – from May 6 to 12, 2020.This year, recognition is especially meaningful as our nursing staff – 354 strong – are selflessly and heroically at the front lines of Christian Health’s (CHCC) battle against COVID-19. They live the National Nurses Week theme of “Compassion, Expertise and Trust”. Resting within that theme is the essence of our vision – to be the hands of Christ. Every day CHCC nurses offer their compassionate care and clinical expertise. Our nursing team does not take lightly the trust placed in them by our residents, patients, clients, consumers, their families, and the community. A uniform with added N95 masks, face shields, and gowns does not prevent their compassion from shining through.
Before the pandemic even reached America, CHCC nurses quickly shifted attention and emergency response to COVID-19. The virus continues to pose enormous challenges for our nurses, inspiring a heightened level of respect and appreciation for their commitment and sacrifice.
The role that our nurses play every day – and especially during this pandemic – ensures that resident and patient care needs are met. This is crucial, not only for residents, patients, and their loved ones . . . but for the entire CHCC team. These are trying times, and our nurses’ dedication is not unnoticed.
Although life as we know it has changed and continues to change, the core character and values of our nurses have not. I am humbled by, proud of, and give thanks to God for the extraordinary skill and compassion of our nurses. Please join me in thanking the Lord and our nurses for their patience, professionalism, hard work, compassion, expertise, and trust.
