Christian Health Named 2017 Recipient of Multiple Silver AHCA/NCAL National Quality Awards

WYCKOFF, NJ – The American Health Care Association (AHCA)/National Center for Assisted Living (NCAL) has named Christian Health (CHCC) as a 2017 recipient of a Silver AHCA/NCAL National Quality Award for Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Southgate behavior-management unit, and The Longview Assisted Living Residence. The Award provides a systematic path for providers to progress on their journey toward performance excellence. This is one of the most prestigious awards available within the long-term and post-acute health-care industry. The AHCA/NCAL Quality Award is modeled after the Malcolm Baldridge National Quality Award, which is the nation’s highest Presidential honor for organizational innovation and performance excellence.

“By successfully applying the rigorous standards of this National Quality Award program, Heritage Manor, Southgate, and Longview have achieved a significant milestone in Christian Health’s quality journey,” said Douglas A. Struyk, CPA, LNHA, CHCC President and CEO. “Most of all, we give thanks that those we serve are the ultimate and most important beneficiaries of this level of excellence.”

The AHCA/NCAL Quality Award program has three levels: Bronze, Silver, and Gold. Care providers begin at the Bronze level and must earn an award at each level before applying for the next. After being presented with the Bronze award, CHCC continued to focus on superior outcomes in pursuit of the next level of quality. In 2017, CHCC was one of only six providers in New Jersey to be presented the distinguished Silver Award, among 191 that were awarded nationally. No facility in New Jersey has applied for and received the Gold award to date.

At the Silver level, applicants must show a thorough assessment of systemic approaches and deployment that improve organizational improvement and health-care outcomes. The year-long application was far more than an award. It was an opportunity for CHCC to build upon years of organizational focus on quality, further align and accelerate performance-excellence efforts, and drive improved results in clinical and non-clinical processes. Presentation of the 2017 Silver AHCA/NCAL National Quality Award to CHCC will take place during the AHCA/NCAL Annual Convention and Exposition this October.
