What is a CCRC?

The Vista at Christian Health (CHCC) will be North Jersey’s new premier continuing care retirement community (CCRC). A CCRC, as licensed by the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs, allows seniors to “age in place,” with flexible accommodations that are designed to meet their health and housing needs as these needs change over time. Residents can move among independent living, assisted living, and skilled-nursing care.

CHCC currently offers three levels of care for seniors: Evergreen Court and Hillcrest for independent seniors, The Longview Assisted Living Residence, and Heritage Manor Nursing Home, which includes Southgate behavior-management unit. Additionally, CHCC offers Christian Health Care Woodhaven of Wayne and Wyckoff. In order to meet an identified community need and develop the final component of senior living through a CCRC that offers a full range of senior services, Christian Health is expanding its independent living through development of The Vista.

The Vista will feature 199 independent living apartments for seniors age 62 and over, with many amenities, including a wellness center, pool, exercise rooms, spa-type facilities, auditorium, library, craft rooms, and more. A minimum of one meal per day will be provided to residents through a choice of culinary options including a fine-dining restaurant, casual café, and pub with grab-and-go takeout. Residents needing medical care at a level not provided in The Vista’s wellness center can take advantage of existing programs the adjacent CHCC campus. Additionally, residents will have priority access to CHCC’s existing continuum-of-care services.

The fee structure for The Vista will be an entrance fee with refundable options. Monthly service fees include all utilities, one meal per day, apartment and building maintenance, weekly light housekeeping, annual heavy house cleaning, scheduled transportation, and a 24-hour emergency-response system.
