The Franklin Lakes Lions Club donated $500 to benefit the Pathways program at Christian Health (CH) in Wyckoff. R. Scott Sheldon, MDiv, CH Foundation Director of Development, recently accepted the check at the Lions Club meeting and spoke briefly about the program and thanked them for their generous support.
“In receiving the grant award on behalf of the Christian Health Foundation, I want to express how important the Pathways program is in helping individuals who have both developmental and intellectual disabilities to gain skills through activity-based treatment for adults 18 and older,” said Mr. Sheldon
Pathways is a partial-hospitalization program that provides highly individualized, and structured outcome-oriented, non-residential program that serves developmentally and intellectually disabled individuals who also have a co-occurring mental illness. A variety of group, educational, and activity-based therapies are offered daily. Through these groups, as well as individual therapy, consumers are able to work toward goals of stabilizing psychiatric symptoms and behaviors, developing positive coping skills and strategies to deal more effectively with life, managing psychiatric symptoms and illnesses, instilling hope, and encouraging recovery.
“Pathways staff and consumers are always grateful to the Lions Club of Franklin Lakes for supporting our program and the delicate population that we serve,” said Jennifer Puskas, LCSW, ACS, Pathways Director. “The grant award will enable staff to enhance the art room and to further develop various curriculums for our Life Skills and Pre-vocational Skills groups.”
